a computer lab folks!!!

Before we left the island it was a crazy couple weeks. But it was also exciting to see the computer lab completed. Using the grant money from the German Embassy, Jason had purchased 10 brand new computers for the school and installed everything on each one from home. After picking up the coconut wood desks we had local carpenters make and finishing the painting, windows, etc Jason and some guys from the team with the help of the fundis on the site moved them in to the lab.

Even though the rest of the school is not fully completed yet the computer lab needed to be functional because the grant stipulated that it be done by late October and with our departure that meant it had to be before we left! Although at times we feel like things crawl along in getting done it is amazing to see the progress in only a year. Here are some pictures we took the week we left. It is a fully functional computer lab!!!

Jason was installing all the software for a couple days

setting up the lab
a view of the car workshop with the roof complete (the middle part will be an open courtyard)
Finally they are all in and set up!!

the soon to be office is almost done too!

Wow - how exciting! The computer room looks great. I got choked up looking at the pictures. What a huge milestone for you and your team... after months (and years) of planning and following your calling.
