stories....

Annikah Joy is a true story teller, tale weaver, and lover of all things fantastical and make believe. We got out the paints of one unusually quiet afternoon and she painted and spun some stories that were too great not to record. I asked her to tell me the story of each picture and recorded exactly what she said. It was too fabulous not to share.

"This one is The Grumpy Old Lion
This is a lion and he does not like people (insert sound "ahhh" for added emphasis) but he is very beautiful but also mean but I don't know why. We should all pray to God so he can be nice."

"This one is the slippy snake
This here is a big snake named Kia. His name is Kia because he likes to eat keys. He is sleeping right now so Shhhhh. Oh wait!! He already waked up and now is finding some keys for food."

by Annikah. After each story the always seeking approval Anni asks "Don't you love that story Mama?" And of course I reply "Yep, I think it pretty much rocks!"

What a wonderful imagination! That's my girl coming through her. The kids I teach have no imaginations and it is so sad. Nice use a colors too. When is she opening her own gallery? Tell her Bibi loves her. Did she like "Toy Story 3" and the other DVD's?

Tell Annikah her Bibi loves her stories, too! I always love childrens' books where the author/illustrator is one and the same. Maybe she'll be another Eric Carle, Tomi dePaola, or Jan Brett??

Those are beautiful water colors! And great stories. When she can write them down on her own, that will be even more fun :) Somewhere in the family house basement there lurks notebooks and notebooks FULL of my random writings since childhood. I left the illustrations up to my fabulously talented sister though. Anni has the writing and the drawing!
