Cotton Babies is a company we heard about from another family in discussing the merits of cloth diapering. We made the switch to cloth diapers early on with Annikah after a good friend showed me how easy they were. At first I was intimidated but they are fabulous and I highly recommend them whether you live in Africa or Chicago! In addition to not loading more toxic waste into landfills cloth diapering is also cost effective (as long as you use each diaper at least 60 times which is easy to do especially if you use them on more than one baby, my husband used a spread sheet to figure this out before we invested:)). We never brought a ton of cloth diapers the first time around and could use more to allow more time between washings (especially in Africa were power is often not available). Cotton Babies offers a cloth diaper grant that families can apply for. The grants are for families that work overseas and have fewer options and resources for their kids when it comes to diapering. I filled out the grant application about 5 months back but after receiving an email saying they had tons of applicants I thought we may not qualify for the grant. But last week we received an email saying we had been approved!!! So they shipped us 15
Bum Genius adjustable diapers, flannel cloth wipes, 2 bags to store dirty diapers, and bum cleaning solution! I must give them mad props for supporting people that serve overseas and for blessing our little Evy's bum (& us by extension). Although her bum is a little tiny for them now she will soon fit into them and they will save us tons of money! So our baby's bum is already blessed by this big-box-o-diaper love. Yeah!
