Family Camp is our fave!!!
Our favorite thing about summer may just be Family Camp!! I know I have sung its praises' before many times but seriously people it is just THAT awesome. Our favorite family time of the year for sure. So many family and friends (that we consider family) are there and the activities combined with the complete lack of pressure to do anything is a winning combination. Add to it that there is great food and magical family helpers that do things like take my overtire toddler so I can enjoy the beach or stay with all 3 kids so I can kayak with my husband and it is MY JAM!!
This year we reconnected with our people, saw God move in big ways, rested from the normal, and had a blast!
What follows is a ridiculous amount of pictures of the fabulous-ness because I just heart camp so much.
And can I just talk about the cuteness of these cuzzies? I can't even.
Trail ride to trail breakfast was a highlight for Abishai who kept screaming "choo choo guy" at the man driving the tractor. His name was Timonthy and graciously accepted Abishai's incessant screaming (and even let us ride another morning even though we were not signed up)
"Heart-attack" toast is always THE BOMB!
Little Dudes horsemanship class
And Annikah took arena lessons and got to do a trail ride this year
We loved our family helper Celsey!!
Charlie loved the pony rides from day one while Abishai was horrified until about day 3 but he did it (mama was so proud) and he decided he loved it!!
the chubby wrists slay me.
Umm, boy cuzzies feeding each other. I know, right?
This year Annikah tried her hand at pottery.
A huge highlight for the girls is always riding up to the beach in the trunk. Seriously. They are pretty easy to please.
THE BEACH!!
Abishai wanted to try the water slide!! Great catch Charlotte!
Big hats #onfleek
OK, LOVE this one of Annie- you go girl!
frog catchin'
Hammock village time is always good time.
Lazer tag show down
Evy is serious peeps.
And our annual archery competition ended with me LOSING by 2 points (sigh...tear...). Smack talking was had by all but in the end J dawg emerged. It is actually painful to recall this defeat but next year J!!
Abishai loves Uncle Matt!
Date night with family!
Tree and rope climbing!
Love these girls and they ALL killed it on the tree climb!
Go Anni!
Get it Evy!
And of course the "We climbed LIKE A BOSS" treats from the canteen!
Ice Blocking down the hill! I LOVE Anni's face!
Kayak trip down the Mississippi River while magical family helpers entertained the kids. Awesome!!
Getting our worship on
The teaching time is always challenging and encouraging!
The kids performing this years song with their counselors and family helpers
some of the acts are pretty hilarious!!
And this year these girls performed a choreographed (we use that term very lightly) dance!
But closing morning at camp is always rough.
Another year of family camp gone and another year of amazing memories. We are so grateful for this time to set aside to be intentional, adventurous, chill, and just to be together as a family with so many of our people.
So who is in for next summer?
This is a clip of Anni's second performance with her "crew" of the states and capital song she adores. And I even convinced J to join in at the end (and um, please forgive my ridiculous dancing...can we still be friends?)!

You really had a great time and I hope you will keep it in your heart for a very long time :-)
So sorry for Evy - I totally understand her feelings! I was always so sad, when our one week summer holiday with the youth group was over. It was my life for sooo many years - from baby on until I myself was taking part as one of the leaders ;-)
Thanks for sharing!
