another Friday, another harusi

Fridays are always busy and yesterday Anni , Evy, some neighbors, and I headed out to a wedding. The moon is right for weddings and we have heard of tons in the next few weeks. I was requested to take some pictures as word of my stellar wedding photography skills has apparently traveled (or probably just that I have a camera that works :) but still. We went with our neighbor who also just got accepted to Jason's computer class that starts this week. Her mom and I chat often and has taught me a few awesome recipes (like coconut chutney...yum!) and her little brother is in shule. Their relative was getting married and I met her the first week we got back as she came over to our 'hood preparing for the festivities. I remember it clearly because her name in Kiswahili means "I kiss" and I just love that; Nachum. So we loaded up and off we went to celebrate her wedding on Friday afternoon.

Anni was so excited to go as she always is for wedding because they always mean getting to wear a little make-up and she gets to pick from the plethora of dress up bling she has amounted. Really anything goes and that suits Miss Anni just right. But after we arrived and we were escorted in to the tiny room packed full of the bride and tons of busyness Anni started to cry and did not stop. I realized that she was having culture shock at the readjustment to life here. She forgot how loud, hot, and different it is. I can forget that too. So Anni and I spent some time outside just talking and then after a half hour she was ready to party! Good reminder to always be praying for my kids and helping them (and us) adjust. It also helped that she made some fast friends that appreciated her flare for rock climbing, dancing, and chicken chasing. Yep, another Friday, another harusi.....
