If this iPhone could talk....

Yep...you guessed it...

He got it back!! If this iPhone could talk, it would share with us all the unbelievable story of 5 days in captivity. Who knows the crazy tales it would tell, from its abduction, a trip being smuggled off the island and over to Dar, being sold, allegedly being involved with some undercover police sting of sorts, having been forcibly and carelessly pried open to try to get the darn thing to work, receiving bruises, scratches, loss of limbs (ok-buttons) and many battle scars, making its way on a ferry back to the island and then a trip to a village where its "interim owner" found out it was worth much more than he ever knew, and finally resulting in a debate between police, our local friends, and the "owner" regarding reward money. The journey came to an end after many confusing phone calls and a trip to the local police station, where Jason was joyfully reunited with it!

Although in the end we had to pay reward money and transit costs, and the iPhone is quite beat up and plundered, it happily chugs along and seems to be working just fine. A miracle? Quite possibly. We are honestly still in shock that we ever saw it again. Though Annikah knew - she told us everyday while praying that we'd get it back! Faith like a child...

Thank you to all who prayed...more to come as details pan out!

Wow! I'm having Anni pray for me the next time I lose something! I hope you all still got to the beach tho to relax, You looked like you needed to get recharged. Maybe today. I'd still contact Apple with the story. Who knows what they might do. What happened to the guy?

the guy is still at large so to speak, he is in Dar right now as I guess he knows if he comes back he will be arrested. We hopr to still find some way to talk with him when he does come back...

I think I will make J write up the full story- not eth WHOLE as I think seriously only GOd knows everything....new things are still coming out...crazy saga!!

After Jason writes up the entire story send it to the CEO of Apple. It would make a great survival commercial, and maybe they'd give him a new phone! One can hope.:)

Horray! Now password protect it! I lost mine in the park and a kid found it and answered it when I called. But because it was pwd protected, he was not able to use it. He asked my why... and then was happy to give the useless tool back.

Yayyyy!!!!Jason looks very tired in the eyes. Way to be a pitbull!

He had the phone set so that it woudl only recharge after being plugged into our computer so it really was worthless to them (which is why various folks tried to break the thing open to "fix it") but now he added a password AND a GPS tracker on the phone so he knows where it is at all times- crazy huh? Even I think i phones are cool now. We have also affectoneatly named the phone now- "rudi" which means return in Kiswahili...seems it deserves a name for all it had been thru :) Iphone survival stories....I wonder if there is an app for that!
