There is power!! After 3 months of NO POWER our island finally has it back. Exactly a week before we head there! It actually went on yesterday but after some initial excited emails from team mates and even a couple of Jason's local friends it went off after about 20 minutes. Thus we are only cautiously celebrating as we know there is a good chance it will still go out again and there may be rolling blackouts after our return. There are also still parts of the island that do not have power because during the outage people stole the power lines (to sell them for the raw cooper). You can read more about it here (the article cracks me up as it mentions that the power company made a statement that they will resolve current problems "immediately after being notified" In our experience NOTHING is immediate :). But still we are excited as I had a minor panic attack last week thinking about washing cloth diapers by hand in addition to our clothes everyday! Our team mates and friends have survived a rough time and we are hoping our reunion with them next week is by yellow florescent glow, not by flickering candlelight...we shall see.....

i think of this when i come up against tough times and something that i don't quite want to deal with, and it helps me keep things in perspective.
